These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Codewright (the “Service”), operated by Black Beacon Studios LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Codewright is an educational platform that teaches programming through interactive lessons, runnable exercises, and optional AI-assisted review of code you write. Free content is available without an account. Some features require a paid subscription.
You sign in with a one-time email link. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and notify us of any unauthorized use. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You agree not to:
When you request AI feedback, the code and text you submit are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. AI output may be incomplete or incorrect and is provided for learning purposes only — it is not professional, legal, or security advice. You are responsible for reviewing and testing any code before relying on it.
The Service’s lessons, curriculum, code, and branding are owned by us and protected by applicable law. You retain ownership of code and content you create. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own learning.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI feedback will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. You can request deletion of your account and data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
